Former Canadian Minister of Immigration and Citizenship who was known for imposing a 15 year waiting Period

I guess Most Somali Canadians Living in Canada know Sergio Marchi, son of Italian Immigrants who became a Canadian Politician and subsequently held the Post of Minster of Immigration and Citizenship late 1990's.

Sergio Marchi is not a news worthy individual and the only legacy he left behind was Punishing Refugees from Somalia seeking New life in Canada after he imposed a 15 Years waiting Period before they can be eligible for permanent  residence (a process Otherwise would have taken 9 months or less).

Mr. Marchi imposed a law single handedly against Somali and Afghani Refugees.

I was Astonished that an individual with Such a heinous act and a hatred towards  refugees seeking refuge in Canada would apply the Highest position on an international Agency that advocates and aides immigrants.

What credentials does he have to qualify for such a higher post ? may be he could claim that he ruined the lives of 100.000 Somali refugees while he was  immigration Minster of Canada!.

Only those affected by this unlawful wait period would know how much it hurts but I will give you some examples in which after you read you would agree with me what Sergio Marchi did to Newly arrived  and Vulnerable Somali Community in Canada is no different than sentencing an innocent men to a 15 Year of Prison with no chance of parole.

Most Affected people were families with Children that had in need of housing, language skills, education and settlement help.
 
During that Period most Somali Teenage kids finish their high school education hoping they will proceed to a higher education such as colleges or Universities but unfortunately the privilege of Qualifying student aid (Loans and grants) were stripped off  by Sergio Marchi and his Liberal Party.
 
90% of those graduated from high schools ended up hopeless and abandoned many of them ended up in jails for minor things such as jaywalk.

Subsequently Conservative government that defeated Liberals did not make any change neither they condone the actions of the liberals and the injustice still applied to Somalis alone, though they reduced the waiting period to 10 years and later to five years.

I would urge my Fellow Somalis across Canada to raise their Voice against Fascist Sergio Marchi for his crimes against Somalis while he was Canadian Minster of Immigration and Citizenship.

Let's make a petition and then send to the IOM (international Organization for Migrants).

Let's raise awareness of who this Individual Sergio Marchi is and what he did to the Poor Somali Refugees in Canada.

Let's Block his bid to this Prestigious and honorable post by Spreading the word around and expose the other faces of Sergio Marchi. 

Conservative Government did neither endorsed Mr. Marchi for a political reason nor they opposed his bid because they are as guilty as their Liberal predecessors, for not reversing the ill fated Sergio Marchi ruling of waiting Period for Somali Refugees.

This is the Time we can get Even with Sergio Marchi by Showing him what he did to Somali Refugees in Canada was neither right nor justified !
